Accessibility statement

Accessibility statement for the Netanya Apartments website: the standard we build to, what the site does today, the gaps we know about, and how to reach the accessibility coordinator.

We want everyone to be able to find and book an apartment on this site — including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, enlarge the text or need high contrast. This statement sets out what the site does today, what is not finished, and how to reach us when something gets in your way.

The standard we work to

The site is built to the requirements of Israeli Standard IS 5568 (web content accessibility), which adopts the international WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA, as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 5773-2013. We work to the WCAG 2.1 AA criteria and follow WCAG 2.2 where it is practical. No external auditor has certified the site, so we describe below what it actually does rather than claim a conformance level.

What the site does

  • A “skip to content” link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page, so you can jump straight past the header.
  • An accessibility menu on every page — the round blue button in the bottom corner: text size up to 200%, two high-contrast themes (dark and light), grayscale, highlighted links, wider text spacing, stop animations and a large cursor. Your settings are saved in your own browser only and reset with one click. The menu is an extra aid, not a substitute for the site itself being accessible.
  • Semantic HTML: real headings, landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer), lists and tables, so a screen reader can convey the structure.
  • Everything you can click, you can also reach from the keyboard — links, buttons, the menu on phones, the date calendar, the photo gallery, the language menu and the cookie banner. The gallery opens in a real dialog: Escape closes it and focus returns to where you were.
  • A visible focus outline follows the keyboard, on the pale sections and the dark ones alike.
  • Text alternatives: every apartment photo carries a descriptive alt text, translated into all four languages. Purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Body text, links and the star ratings are designed to meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text and graphics) against their background. One place still falls short — it is listed under the gaps below.
  • Four languages, each with the correct language attribute, and a genuine right-to-left layout for Hebrew: the page is mirrored, not just re-typed.
  • Nothing on the site plays sound, nothing flashes, and no form puts you on a clock. The photo slideshow on the home page advances by itself, but it has a pause button, it stops while you point at it or move keyboard focus into it, and it does not move at all if your system is set to reduce motion.
  • Form fields have visible labels; a field that needs attention is marked as invalid and its error message is written in plain words, attached to the field and announced to assistive technology. The consent checkboxes are real checkboxes with their own labels.
  • Calendar days are announced with their full date, and unavailable days say so.
  • Wide tables sit in a container you can scroll from the keyboard, and question-and-answer sections use native expandable elements.
  • Pinch-zoom is never disabled, and the layout reflows down to a narrow phone screen.

Known gaps

We would rather be honest about what is unfinished. As of the date of this statement:

  • Contrast: on the home page the headline sits over a photograph, and on some of those photographs it falls below our 4.5:1 target. It is on the fix list.
  • We have not checked every page at 200% text size. A couple of full-height sections could clip a long heading before the rest of the page does.
  • We link out to WhatsApp, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap, whose accessibility is not ours to control.
  • The site has not been audited by an external certified accessibility auditor. We test it ourselves with automated tooling and keyboard checks across the main pages at phone and desktop sizes and fix what we find.

Accessibility of the apartments themselves

This statement covers the website. The apartments are in ordinary residential buildings and are not certified accessible. Before you book, tell us what you need — step-free access, a lift, door widths, a walk-in shower, the distance to the beach — and we will answer honestly for each apartment so you can decide for yourself.
